For your long haul leg of the flight, you will be either flying with Edelweiss Air Business Class Airbus A340 or Lufthansa Business Class Airbus A340.
Edelweiss Air Business Class Airbus A340 has very similar configuration comparing to SWISS Airlines’ Boeing 777. They feature about five different seat configurations, as the cabin alternates between a 1-2-2 and a 2-2-1 configuration. This means every row has one so-called “throne” seat alone by the windows, two seats in the middle, and a pair of seats on the other side of the plane.
Note that even though Edelweiss is an integrated member in the Lufthansa-Group and an affiliate of Swiss International Air Lines, it is not a Star Alliance member. The Edelweiss portion of flight might not qualify for the Star Alliance mile and status accumulations.
Lufthansa A340’s lie-flat seats are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. While less than ideal since not all passengers had direct aisle access, the cabin does feel modern and fresh.
For the Lufthansa leg, the purchase qualifies for the Star Alliance mile and status accumulations. The ticket includes priority check-in, airport lounge access, business class meals, two pieces of checked in luggage, amenity kit, and wines, champagne and other beverages.
Even though you can probably save a few bucks by booking with some of the budget websites, we recommend booking directly with airline’s website to ensure better customer service post sales. Deals so good wouldn’t last. So, act fast!
